Catherine Smith is a classically trained musician, making her symphonic debut as piano soloist at the age of seventeen. She has been and continues to be involved with a variety of music programs and collaborations, including playing harpsichord in the Tafelmusik Baroque Performance Institute in the summer of 2012 and performing as piano accompanist with instrumentalists and vocalists for the past 8 years.
Smith expanded into the realm of commercial music while doing an internship with The Lodge Music Production in NYC this past summer and winter. During her time there, she collaborated with composers on commercials, including singing for Lay's potato chips and co-composing and recording a commercial on piano for The Ski Team Music and Sound. She also had the opportunity to prepare music for a Hershey’s Kisses commercial, which was recorded that same week by the Prague Symphony Orchestra for public television in the United States.
Most recently, she guided the successful launch of Flight4Sight, a non-profit campaign to raise awareness of blindness. Through this, she served as content manager and applied creative methods to engage with followers and market the campaign through social media, resulting in attention from interest groups and news media, including coverage by NBC15 Madison.
Smith is currently finishing a B.A. in Music at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. She also teaches 11 students a week at the YMCA in Appleton. In her free time, she likes to compose music, downhill ski, and meet new people.
